Typhoid Vaccine

Typhoid is caused by a bacterium and is primarily contracted by mild transmission of infected food or water. Risk is higher in countries like the Indian subcontinent where there is a high incidence of typhoid fever.

Vaccine is in the form of an injection which can also be combined with Hepatitis A vaccine.

The dose is recommended for anyone over the age of 18 months. Reinforcing dosages are given every three years.

The only contra-indications are anaphylactic reaction and those people who are immunosuppressed .

Adverse reaction following injection is headache, nausea and diarrhoea, which is less than 1%.
